Cayo Grande

Larger forested island with rocky shore and a basic eco-lodge

The larger of the two main islands, mostly forested and ringed by rocky shoreline rather than sand. A single low-key eco-lodge operates on the south coast — the only non-Garifuna accommodation in the archipelago. Most visitors stop briefly for a guided walk along the trails or to snorkel offshore.

The interior is thick scrub and hardwood forest, home to the endemic pink boa and a few resident pairs of seabirds. There is no road, no village, and no shop. If you are staying at the lodge, plan to be self-contained for the duration.
