Ocotepeque is best reached by bus from Santa Rosa de Copán, about two hours northeast along the CA-4. Direct buses run several times daily. From Tegucigalpa, expect a full day's travel with a change in La Esperanza or Santa Rosa. The Agua Caliente border crossing from Guatemala and the El Poy crossing from El Salvador are both within 15 km of town, making Ocotepeque an easy entry or exit point from the west. Local colectivos connect the central market to both crossings throughout the day.
