The central park is the social hub of Ocotepeque, a tree-shaded square with benches, vendors, and the usual flow of daily life. The colonial church on the east side of the square is a simple white-painted structure with a bell tower visible from much of the town. It is not a grand monument, but the square is a good place to sit for a while, eat a cheap lunch from the comedor stalls nearby, and get a feel for this quiet highland town.
Market days bring additional activity, with vendors spreading out from the adjacent streets. A good place to pick up local produce, handmade goods, and the strong local coffee grown in the surrounding hills.
