The Folly Lighthouse stands at the tip of the Folly Peninsula, a 12-metre brick tower built in 1888 in the distinctive red-and-white banded pattern common to Caribbean lighthouses of the period. It remains operational. The walk out to the lighthouse from town takes about 15 minutes along the peninsula road, passing the Folly Ruins on the way.
The point itself has views in three directions over the Caribbean and back toward the two harbours of Port Antonio — the best vantage point for understanding the geography of the town. Early morning is the most atmospheric time to visit, before the heat builds.
