Frenchman's Cove is one of the most beautiful beaches in Jamaica — a small sheltered bay where a cold freshwater stream flows directly into the Caribbean through fine white sand. The combination of cold and warm water, the palms overhead, and the small scale of the cove makes it feel like a private discovery even when it has visitors.
The beach is on the grounds of a private estate that charges a small admission fee; facilities are minimal, which preserves the atmosphere. It is about 8 km east of Port Antonio on the road toward the Blue Lagoon, easily reached by taxi. Go early or late in the day to avoid the heat.
