Destileria La Altena is the tequila anchor that makes Arandas more than a pretty highland town. Founded in 1937, it is linked with Tapatio, El Tesoro, and Tequila Ocho, and is respected for traditional production methods rather than industrial shortcuts.
Do not treat it like a drop-in attraction. Tours and tastings need arranging in advance, and access can vary, but serious tequila drinkers will find this one of the most meaningful stops in Los Altos.
