The Mercado Municipal is where Arandas stops being a postcard and becomes useful. Produce stalls, everyday errands, and small food counters fill the market with the kind of movement you miss if you only photograph the churches.
It is a good place for a cheap lunch or to pick up fruit before continuing through Los Altos. Saturday is the liveliest market day in town.
