The Museo de la Vid y el Vino is the best first stop in the valley. Its exhibits explain why this dry corner of Baja works for vines: the Pacific fog, the cooling night air, the soil, and the mix of grapes that local winemakers have adopted without much concern for European rule books.
It is practical as well as educational. After half an hour here, the names on tasting menus and roadside signs make more sense.
