Presa de Malpaso is the easiest nature break from Calvillo. The reservoir sits west of town, with dry hills around the water and a cluster of simple places to eat or look out over the lake.
It is best with your own car or a local taxi arrangement. Come for the change of scenery rather than expecting a wild national-park experience.
