Gran Parque Ecológico Zazil gives Chetumal a patch of green that is more than a town square. Paths, trees and wetland edges create a low-key place for walking, birdwatching and getting a sense of the local environment without leaving the city.
It is not a substitute for the lagoons or Maya sites around southern Quintana Roo, but it is a useful breather if you have time between buses, museums and the waterfront. Go early or late in the day, when the heat is kinder and the park feels more alive.
