Comalcalco is about an hour by road from Villahermosa. Buses and colectivos connect the two cities, but a car or taxi makes it much easier to combine the archaeological site, cacao haciendas, Cupilco, and the wetlands in one day.
The nearest major airport is in Villahermosa. If you are using public transport, check the last return service before lingering outside town.
