El Fuerte Museum

Small museum in the reconstructed fort, with ramparts, local history, and river-valley views.

El Fuerte Museum occupies the reconstructed fort above the centre, on the site tied to the town's name. The displays are modest, but the ramparts, old weapons, photographs, and views over the town make it the clearest place to start.

Its value is partly symbolic. Without the fort story, El Fuerte is just a pretty railway town; with it, the plaza and old streets make more sense.
