Huichapan has direct buses from Mexico City's Terminal de Autobuses del Norte, with the trip taking around four hours. From Queretaro or nearby Hidalgo towns, a car is more flexible and makes it much easier to visit El Saucillo.
The bus terminal is close enough to the centre for a short taxi ride or a practical walk with light luggage.
