El Pingüino

El Pingüino is the best breakfast spot on the island, a waterfront café on the western shore with views across the channel to the Cancún skyline. The menu is simple and executed well: fresh-squeezed juices, eggs in various forms, pancakes, and strong Mexican coffee. The huevos rancheros are particularly good — proper ranchero sauce, not the watered-down version.

By late morning it doubles as a brunch place, with sandwiches and light plates appearing alongside the breakfast menu. The setting — open-air, right on the water, with the first ferry arrivals drifting past — makes it an easy place to linger. It closes well before dinner; go for the morning.
