Isla Mujeres is not a late-night destination, but it does beach bars exceptionally well. The best of them are on or right next to Playa Norte, where you drink cold beer or a margarita with your feet in the sand and watch the light change on the water. Sunset is the social moment of the day on the island — the western shore faces directly into it, and the bars that line the beach fill up reliably for it.
Cocktails tend towards the standard Caribbean repertoire — margaritas, piña coladas, rum punches — but made with local ingredients and without the corporate price tags of the Cancún hotel zone. Most places also do coffee and fresh fruit during the day.
