The family-owned Tamales Y Atoles Any's has served traditional Mexican food for almost 20 years. Located in El Centro of Zihuatanejo, the bright yellow building with its tall thatched roof is easy to spot.
Tamales are the house specialty, with more than a dozen varieties available. At around 12 pesos each, they are generous enough to satisfy all but the biggest appetite. The menu also includes tostadas, tacos, enchiladas, and soups.
Pozole — a hearty hominy stew with pork or chicken, served with onion, radishes, jalapenos, oregano, avocado, and chili powder — is available every day, not just on the traditional Thursday. After your bowl, expect a complimentary jarrito of house mezcal.
From November through March a weekly cultural dinner show features traditional dance and music from various regions of Mexico. Open six days a week year-round, closed Sundays. Cash only.
