The Parish of Santiago Apóstol anchors the centre of Ixtlán del Río. Its white stone exterior is plain at first glance, but the interior carries the richer Baroque, Rococo, and neoclassical detail that the Nayarit cultural heritage register notes.
It is worth pairing with a walk around the plaza rather than treating as a destination by itself. Together they give the town its slower, old-centre rhythm after the bigger hit of Los Toriles.
