The Sierra del Tigre is the larger landscape that makes Mazamitla worth more than a plaza stop. Pine and oak forest, ranch tracks, viewpoints such as Cerro del Tigre, and cool weather give the town its weekend-retreat character.
You can sample it on a short guided ride or push farther out by bike, ATV, or on foot. Choose the lower-impact option when you can; the quiet is a big part of why the place works.
