Laguna Boat Crossing

Short boat approach through mangrove channels to Mexcaltitán's car-free island docks.

The boat crossing is part of the reason to come. Boats run from the mainland embarcadero through shallow lagoon and mangrove channels, then pull up at small docks on the island edge.

It is not a grand cruise, but the approach changes the mood of the day. You leave the road behind, arrive on foot, and immediately understand why Mexcaltitán feels separate from the mainland villages around it.
