El Chico National Park is the reason Mineral del Chico works as a full day rather than a quick mining stop. The park protects high pine forest, volcanic crags, and cool mountain trails just outside town.
Hikers, mountain bikers, and climbers all find something here. If you have limited time, ask locally for transport to a trailhead or viewpoint rather than trying to cover the park from town on foot.
