Templo de San Juan

The main parish church at the heart of Nueva Rosita's modest historic centre

The Templo de San Juan is the principal Catholic church of Nueva Rosita and the anchor of the town's small historic centre. Built in a simple colonial style, it faces a shaded plaza that serves as the town's main gathering place — particularly lively on Sunday mornings and during the festivals of San Juan in June and the town's patron saint celebrations.

The interior is plain but well maintained, with the usual iconography of a northern Mexican parish church. The plaza around it has benches, trees, and the kind of unhurried pace typical of small Mexican towns. For travellers pausing on the drive between Piedras Negras and Saltillo, it makes a reasonable stopping point to stretch and get a sense of the town.
