Piedras Negras is primarily a working border city rather than a tourist destination. Most visitors pass through on their way somewhere else or cross for a day from Eagle Pass. The nacho birthplace claim, the central plaza, and the Rio Grande waterfront are the main points of interest for the traveller with a few hours to spare.
