The drive is straightforward: south on I-19 from Tucson to the border crossing at Lukeville/Sonoyta, then south on Mexico 8 to the coast. A Mexican car insurance policy is required and available online or at the border.
There is a small airport with irregular service from Phoenix and other US cities, but most visitors drive. No major bus service connects it to Mexican cities — this is an American car-trip destination more than a stop on a Mexican travel circuit.
