The Boca-Playa Las Animas Trail follows the coast south of Puerto Vallarta from Boca de Tomatlan toward a string of small beaches and the fishing village of Quimixto. Playa Las Animas is the best-known stop along the way, with beach bars and boat service back to Boca.
The walk is scenic but not just a flat beach stroll. Expect short climbs, uneven ground, and a few sections where you may want a hand on the fixed ropes. Start early, bring water, and leave enough time to return by boat if you do not want to retrace the trail.
