Coastal village where The Night of the Iguana was filmed

A small fishing village 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta by car, tucked into a cove on Highway 200. The beach faces the granite arches of Los Arcos National Marine Park, making it a natural base for snorkelling and diving trips. The ruins of the Night of the Iguana film set are still visible on the hillside above the south end of the beach, along with the shell of John Huston's old café. There is also a sea turtle sanctuary nearby. Boats and tours can be arranged from the beach.

A story
John Huston filmed The Night of the Iguana here in 1963, bringing Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Deborah Kerr — along with an army of paparazzi following Burton's affair with Elizabeth Taylor. The resulting scandal put Puerto Vallarta on the international map almost overnight. The ruins of the film set still stand on the south side of the cove.
