The Regional Museum is a modest but worthwhile stop in the town centre. Its collection covers pre-Hispanic material from the region, including Olmec pieces, and it also explains the tobacco economy that shaped San Andrés Tuxtla.
It is a good first stop before heading out to the waterfall or cigar country, because it gives the surrounding landscape a human story beyond the usual Los Tuxtlas scenery.
