Salto de Eyipantla

Wide, powerful waterfall on the Catemaco River, wrapped in Los Tuxtlas rainforest.

Salto de Eyipantla is the natural sight that puts San Andrés Tuxtla on most itineraries. The falls are about 40 m wide and 50 m high, fed by the river that drains Lake Catemaco toward the Gulf.

There are viewpoints from above, and stairs lead down toward the base when access is open. Go early if you want the water and rainforest atmosphere before the restaurants and souvenir stalls around the entrance take over.
