Costa Azul Surf Break

The best surf break in the Los Cabos area, a reef break just south of the town that receives swells from the south Pacific and is consistent from May to October when south and southwest swells arrive. The main break — known locally as Zippers — is a fast right-hand wave that works best at mid to high tide; a second break, Old Man's, offers gentler conditions for learners.

A surf camp at the beach rents boards and offers lessons year-round. The beach itself is a pleasant stretch of sand with a view back toward San José. Lifeguards are present in the main season. The strong shore break at Costa Azul and across most of the San José beach front means that casual swimming is not recommended — surf the waves or enjoy them from the sand.
