Getting Around

The historic centre is compact and walkable — the main sights cluster within about fifteen minutes on foot. This is the best way to get around the colonial zone, which is largely pedestrianised and easy to navigate.

Local buses cover the broader city cheaply; routes can be hard to decipher but the main bus corridor along Avenida Venustiano Carranza connects the centre to the western commercial zones. Taxis are metered and inexpensive by most standards; use them for Parque Tangamanga or the railway station. Ride-sharing apps operate in the city and are generally the easiest option if you want to avoid the hassle of flagging a cab.

The airport (SLP) is about 12 km north of the centre and connected by taxi or hired car; there is no direct public bus service from the terminal to the historic zone.
