Cascada del Salto gives Santa Maria del Rio a useful nature stop beyond the plazas. The waterfall drops into a small blue pool in dry hill country, a good contrast to the craft-focused town centre.
Facilities are limited and the trail can be rough or unmarked, so ask locally before setting out. It is best treated as a small adventure, not a manicured park.
