Santa María del Río

San Luis Potosi Pueblo Mágico known for rebozo weaving, colonial plazas, hot springs, and nearby waterfalls.

Santa María del Río is a small town south of San Luis Potosi with one strong identity: the rebozo. The shawls woven here are among Mexico's best-known textile traditions, and the town is serious enough about them to support a dedicated museum, artisan market, and August fair.

The centre is compact and easy to enjoy on foot. Two plazas sit beside old churches, shops hang with rebozos, and the pace is slow enough that a spare day here feels like a craft-and-food detour rather than a sightseeing checklist.

It is not a heavyweight destination, but it clears the World66 bar for travellers already in San Luis Potosi. The rebozo tradition gives it a real reason to exist on the map, while the hot springs, haciendas, and Cascada del Salto add enough outside-town variety.
