The parish church is the main architectural sight in Santa Maria del Rio. Its Franciscan roots go back to the early colonial period, and the interior is more elaborate than the modest town setting might suggest, with painted decoration, murals, and religious art.
It sits by the central plazas, so it is easy to fold into a walk between the rebozo museum, craft shops, and market.
