Laguna del Carpintero is Tampico's strangest urban sight: a city lagoon where crocodiles are part of the attraction rather than a rumour. You can usually spot them from shore, along with birds and the regular movement of families, joggers, and vendors.
Do not treat it like a swimming lake. The fun is in the contrast between busy city and wild-looking water, with the Tampico Bridge visible from some angles.
