Las Escolleras is the long breakwater at the mouth of the Panuco River, where visitors walk out toward the Gulf of Mexico for sea views, ship traffic, and breezes off the water. Near the start is a memorial to the crews of Mexican merchant ships sunk by submarines during World War II.
