Playa Miramar is the beach most visitors mean when they talk about going to the sea from Tampico. It is technically in Ciudad Madero, but it functions as the metropolitan area's main Gulf-front escape.
The beach is popular with domestic visitors, especially from northern Mexico, and gets busy in season. Go for a swim, a walk, or seafood by the water, then return to Tampico for the more distinctive city sights.
