Playa El Real is close enough to Tecomán for a quick beach run, but it feels well outside the city. The sand is grey, the water is deep, and the surf gives the beach more energy than comfort.
Surfers and seafood eaters will get more from El Real than casual swimmers. If you do swim, be careful; this is open Pacific water, not a sheltered bay. For many visitors the better plan is a walk, a meal under a palapa, and time watching the waves.
