The Parroquia de San Francisco de Asís is Tepatitlán's main landmark, a stone church built between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and set directly on the central square. Its tall twin towers and broad portico make the plaza feel more formal than you might expect from a working regional city.
Inside, the church is calmer than its exterior suggests, with a white marble altar and carved figures that reward a slower look. It is the right first stop in Tepa, because the city centre seems to arrange itself around it.
