Parroquia de San Agustin

Baroque parish church with a rich interior facing Tlaxco's main plaza.

The Parroquia de San Agustin is the church that makes Tlaxco feel like more than a small market town. Its outside is handsome enough, but the reason to step inside is the dense baroque decoration, with gilded altars and carved detail that feel lavish for a place this size.

It faces the main plaza, so it is also the natural starting point for a short walk through the centre. Go early or late in the day if you want the square at its most local rather than as a quick tour stop.
