Brig Bay

The main settlement and arrival point on Big Corn

Brig Bay is the closest thing the Corn Islands have to a town centre. The small airport sits at the edge of the bay, and the main road runs through a scatter of brightly painted wooden houses, a couple of supermarkets, the island's hospital, and the wharf where the panga boats leave for Little Corn. It is not a sight in itself, but it is where you will spend time waiting for your boat, changing money, or grabbing supplies before heading on.

The seafront has a small malecon with the famous oversized blue crab statue — a popular photograph — and a few open-air restaurants. Brig Bay is also where the cargo boats from Bluefields tie up, so there is a steady working-port feel that the rest of Big Corn does not share.
