Cerro Tisey-Estanzuela is the closest mountain escape from Estelí, reached by local bus or taxi from the southern side of the city. The reserve has pine forest, farms, viewpoints and the Estanzuela waterfall, whose pool is cold enough to wake you up properly. It is a good half-day trip when Miraflor feels too far.
