Charco Verde

Charco Verde is a small private nature reserve on the southern shore of Concepción's flank, built around a green lagoon (the name means "green pool") fringed by tropical forest. The site has short walking trails through the trees, a butterfly garden, and a beach on the lake where the swimming is sheltered and the sunsets over the water are excellent.

It is worth a visit for the wildlife — howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, parakeets, and an abundance of birds — and as a calmer alternative to Ojo de Agua on the busier side of the island. There is a small lodge on site and a restaurant for lunch.
