Things to Do

Masachapa is not a sightseeing destination — it is a place to slow down. The beach is the main attraction: a broad dark-sand strip running north from the village, with consistent Pacific swell making it a reasonable spot for surfers. The currents are strong and lifeguards are absent, so swimming requires judgement. Beyond the water, the pleasure is in simply being here: watching the fishing boats come in, eating well, and doing very little.

The neighbouring village of Pochomil is a short walk south along the beach and worth the stroll for its slightly livelier atmosphere.
