Guasacate Beach

Guasacate is the beach break a short walk south of the main Popoyo reef, and the better option for beginners and intermediate surfers who want a more forgiving wave. The sand bottom means wipeouts are less punishing, and the peak breaks in both directions on most swells.

The southern end of Guasacate also has some of the better tidal pools along this stretch of coast — worth exploring at low tide for sea urchins, small fish, and crabs. The beach itself is wider and sandier than Popoyo, with shade from coconut palms near the high-tide line.
