When to Go

The dry season (November to April) is the prime time for surfing. Offshore winds blow most mornings, the surf is consistent, and the weather is sunny. This is also peak season, and the better surf lodges fill up on weekends.

The rainy season (May to October) brings green landscapes, cheaper accommodation, and fewer visitors. The surf can still be good, particularly on south and southwest swells, but onshore winds make conditions messier in the afternoons. Sea turtle nesting at Chacocente peaks in the wet season (July–January), so those months have their own reward.

Temperatures stay warm year-round, averaging around 28°C, with higher humidity in the wet season.
