León Viejo is about 35 km east of León, near the village of Puerto Momotombo on the shore of Lake Managua. The easiest approach is by car or taxi from León; the drive takes around 45 minutes on paved road. There is no direct public bus to the ruins — from León you can take a bus toward La Paz Centro and arrange onward transport, but a hired vehicle is far more practical for a day trip.
