The Falls of Baleine drop 18 metres into a stone pool at the northern tip of St Vincent — close enough to the coast that the easiest way to reach them is by boat. Day-trip operators run from the Villa-Indian Bay area on the south coast; the journey hugs the leeward coastline for an hour and a half, anchors offshore, and you wade or swim the last few metres to a short trail that ends at the falls.
The pool is good for swimming, the cascade is steady year-round, and the trip is the cheapest way to see the dramatic uninhabited northern coast — black cliffs, dry forest, and the occasional fishing village. The drive up is also possible via Fancy and Owia in the dry season but requires a 4x4 and a guide who knows the post-eruption road conditions.
