Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is the main hub, with direct flights from Seattle, Los Angeles, and other major US cities. The airport is about 5 miles from downtown. There is no regular ferry service to Anchorage itself; the nearest Alaska Marine Highway ferry port is Whittier, about 50 miles east via the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. From the Lower 48, most visitors fly.
