HooDoo Brewing is Fairbanks' best craft brewery and one of the best in Alaska. The taproom on 1951 Fox Avenue, in a light industrial area east of downtown, has the no-frills feel of a working brewery — concrete floors, picnic tables, garage doors that open in summer.
The beer is excellent. The Kolsch is clean and drinkable, the Fairweather IPA is well-balanced, and the rotating stouts and porters are particularly good in winter. They do not serve food, but food trucks park outside regularly, and you are welcome to bring your own. The taproom fills up on weekend afternoons with a mix of university types, outdoor workers, and tourists. It is the kind of place where conversations start easily.
