Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum

The Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum houses one of the finest collections of pre-World War II automobiles in North America, and it is not the kind of place you would expect to find in Interior Alaska. The collection includes seven one-of-a-kind vehicles, along with dozens of meticulously restored cars from the early 1900s through the 1930s.

What sets this museum apart from other car collections is the context. Each vehicle is displayed alongside period clothing from the museum's vintage fashion collection, placing the automobiles in their social and cultural moment. The result feels more like stepping into a specific era than looking at machines behind ropes. Located at the Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary on the south side of town, the museum also offers access to walking trails through boreal forest where you might spot moose, foxes, and migratory birds.
