Alyeska Aerial Tramway

The Alyeska tram runs from the Hotel Alyeska base up 600 vertical metres in seven minutes to the Roundhouse and Seven Glaciers Restaurant at 2,300 feet. In winter it serves skiers; in summer it is one of the most popular sightseeing rides in southcentral Alaska.

The view from the top is exceptional: the long flat curve of the Turnagain Arm below, the Kenai Mountains across the water, and — on a clear day — seven hanging glaciers visible from the deck. The restaurant at the top is expensive but the food is genuinely good; for a cheaper option, the Bore Tide Deli at the lower terminal does sandwiches and beer with the same view.

Tram tickets in summer are sold as standalone rides or bundled with dinner at the Seven Glaciers. Hikers can ride the tram up and walk down via the North Face Trail.
